Under the bonnet, the V10 TDI engine boasts the revolutionary Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) .The DPF system effectively removes carbon particulates from the exhaust and converts harmful exhaust gases in the same way as a catalytic converter. The result is engine emissions that have less of an impact on the environment.

Faced with an extreme incline, the Touareg barely pauses clambering up hills with gradients of up to 45°. It can also cope with a side-slope angle of up to 35°, with impressive ramp, approach and departure angles too.

• The Touareg’s ground clearance is impressive at up to 300mm.
• A 6-speed Tiptronic® gearbox ensures smooth transition both on and off road.
• Servotronic® speed-sensitive variable steering assistance.
• Continuous Damping Control (CDC) air suspension (standard on the V10 and R50, optional on other models) automatically adjusts ride height according to speed and driving conditions.
• The V10 engine has two banks, each with its own turbocharger, intercooler, ECU, air filter, and exhaust gas recirculation system.
• The 4Motion® permanent four-wheel drive system can transfer 100% traction power to a single wheel if the other three start to slip.
• Hill descent control gives you confidence when tackling descents of up to 45°.
