Exclusive Touareg R50 Features
Touareg Features
The Touareg R50 is uncompromisingly sporty in every detail. From the oval tailpipes of polished stainless steel
to the spectacular 21-inch “Omanyt” alloy wheels and high-grade radiator grille in matte chrome, every design element radiates sheer energy. Bi-xenon headlights with cornering lights and a matte chrome-plated radiator grille with double rib design highlight the front end. Chrome trim on the sills and side windows, air intakes with a honeycomb pattern, and a colour-coded roof edge spoiler are complemented by clear, dynamic lines from the arrow-shaped contours of the front to the powerful tail.
Open the door of the Touareg R50 and you’ll be struck immediately by the sporty interior framed with ‘Engine Spin’ decorative inserts that remind you more of the cockpit of a racing car than an off-roader. The R50 emblem is discreetly pressed into the gear lever and chrome door trim panels, with the accelerator and brake pedals are adorned with steel, R-design pedal caps, further reflecting the Touareg R50’s sporty character.
The Touareg R50 comes standard with ergonomic sports seats covered in soft Anthracite ‘Nappa’ leather. The R50 logo is stylishly integrated in the front head restraints, leaving the distinctly refined impression of a thoroughbred sports car. At the same time, the interior of the Touareg feels more like a luxury saloon: the electric seat adjustment on the driver and passenger seats has a memory function as standard. This automatically returns the seat to the optimum position. It also adjusts the door mirrors, steering column and belt height to meet the programmed setting.
The R50’s immensely powerful engine is based on the trailblazing V10 TDI diesel that made headlines in 2006 when it pulled a 155-tonne Boeing 747. For the R50, the output of this already powerful engine has been significantly increased. It develops an impressive 850Nm of torque at a low 2,000 rpm compared to the 750Nm of the standard V10 engine. Its power output has been increased by 28kW to 258kW at 3,500 rpm. The result is a vehicle that accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 235km/h. One thing that has not changed on the Touareg R50 however is the fuel consumption, which remains the same as the standard V10 at 9.6 litres per 100 kilometres on the open road and 12.6 litres on a combined cycle.
