Touareg Features
What would an SUV be without fording capabilities? The Touareg has a complex triple door sealing system designed to prevent the ingress of water, waterproof headlamps, as well as waterproof plug connectors, special routing of air inlet, engine venting and sealed propshaft. It has a fording depth of 500mm with the standard suspension, and this increases to 580mm when the CDC suspension is set to its highest raised setting.
Off the beaten track
The Touareg loves a challenge. As with any off-road vehicle, the Touareg requires additional modification for crossing water where the depth exceeds the 500mm/580mm depth allowed for by the standard Touareg. A “snorkel” should be fitted for the air intake system and breather pipes must be fitted to protect the differentials before embarking on serious wading escapades.
