CDC Air Suspension

Touareg Features

CDC Air Suspension

No path is too steep. No hilltop too rocky. The Touareg makes rough off-road trails and inner city adventures a comfortable affair.

What is CDC Air suspension?

Continuous Damping Control (CDC) automatically adjusts your Touareg’s suspension system to ensure the smoothest ride over any terrain. It uses adaptive air suspension, which replaces conventional steel suspension, as well as a continuously variable shock-absorber. These are controlled by an electronic sensor system that detects the vertical-acceleration rates of the wheels and the body, and adjusts them in any situation for maximum driving comfort.

Safety and comfort

By adjusting your roller key, you can further adjust the CDC system manually for enhanced driving safety and comfort based on the road speed and conditions:

  • AUTO is the standard setting and controls the optimum damping response for driving safety and comfort based.
  • COMFORT provides soft damping control.
  • SPORT setting makes the suspension harder for better cornering.

Set your level

CDC air suspension also allows you to adjust the height of your ride. The Touareg can be positioned as follows:

  • NORMAL position (street level) with 215 mm of ground clearance.
  • OFF-ROAD level with 240 mm of clearance
  • ULTIMATE EXTREME OFF-ROAD experience, the X’tra level raises your Touareg to 300 mm clear.
  • ADDED SAFETY: The Touareg is lowered from 125 km/h in the on-road and off-road setting to provide greater driving stability and lower wind resistance.
