Touareg Features
Your Touareg features a specially modified system – 4Motion®. From off-road adventures to round-the-block routine, Touareg’s unique 4Motion® feature ensures that you’ll have the best kind of drive – no matter the conditions.
In normal conditions, the Touareg’s 4Motion® has a symmetrical torque split of 50:50 front and rear. But when driving in challenging conditions, this provides ultimate control by being infinitely variable as far as 100 percent to the wheels with the best traction. So you can send up to 100 percent of the drive force to one wheel to get out of a jam.
What does 4Motion® actually do?
It automatically chooses the best transmission characteristics for the prevailing road and weather conditions, apportioning exactly the right amount of power to the wheels. The result is superb stability and optimum control, with less risk of loss of traction or skidding. When 4Motion® detects a need for hard acceleration 4Motion® will dial in the optimum power transmission setting for maximum traction. When wheelspin is no longer a danger, the transmission is realigned to deliver a “normal” drive setting.
