Unmistakable in its authenticity, Steenberg is a place of textured heritage, vintage wines and world-class golfing. Nestled in the crook of the Constantiaberg Mountains, the Steenberg golf course is rated as one of top three courses in South Africa.
The players at the Steenberg event, Mr Lars Thorson, Mr Robert Porter, Mr Albie van Zyl and Mr Abel van der Merwe, arrived at Steenberg at about 11am where they were welcomed by Volkswagen staff. The Volkswagen team provided a complete playing experience for the guests on the day, including gift packs, prizes and all playing fees covered by Volkswagen.
Results
After playing the 18 holes, the players enjoyed some after-golf snacks and went on to the prize giving dinner. Albie van Zyl came second in the B Division, behind former Springbok rugby player Breyton Paulser, winning himself a Taylormade Putter. Breyton put on an outstanding performance, recording the highest ever Stableford Score in the five years of the South African Volkswagen Masters. A brilliant 45 points left him well clear of the field and he has qualified to compete in the South African Final taking place at Simola Golf Course between the 25th and 27th of September. Robert Porter achieved second place in the C Division and also won a Taylormade Putter.
